Issue 93 – Editorial

Cover93THIS issue marks an important transition in the magazine’s 30-year history. It is the first edition to be available online, accessible at anytime on any device worldwide. We realise that not all of our readers will applaud this development, but it is part of the digital revolution that is affecting every facet of modern life. However, we hasten to add that the existing high quality printed copy of this magazine will continue to be our priority and remain in its present format for the foreseeable future. In publishing terms it is imperative that Craft Arts International embraces the new technology that not only gives people immediate access to new trends and developments in the Visual and Applied Arts, but also offers vital links and platforms for professional and social interaction across different media and disciplines. We accept that most readers value their printed editions and look forward to copies appearing in their local newsagents or arriving through the mail; but some subscribers may now choose to download each digital issue as soon as it is published. Of course, we hope that many will want to acquire both the online and print edition.A distinct advantage of the online edition will beits interactivity, including links to related websitesand various social media services. This is a major undertaking for a niche publication that includes the redesign of its own website to accommodate the potential of the magazine’s online exposure to a global audience of visual arts and contemporary craft advocates and collectors. The online edition is now available from the AppStore, and Googleplay. The website ( has been redesigned to comply with all the latest protocols.
